Community Foundation Welcomes New Non-Profit

Thanks to seed funding from local donors, Stanislaus Community Foundation (SCF) welcomes the expansion of Digital NEST to Modesto. Digital NEST is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable and scalable technology learning centers for Latinx youth that provide the skills, network, and resources to foster economic equality. Since launching in 2014 in Monterey County, over 3,000 teens and young adults have benefited from the services provided at Digital NEST and more than 140 members have been placed in high-quality careers, internships, and colleges.

Monica Escamilla, Center Director for Digital NEST Modesto shared, “Overall, the Modesto Digital NEST center is driven by a commitment to empower the youth, bridge the digital divide, and foster a vibrant and inclusive tech industry within the community. We are excited about the potential impact of our center and the opportunities it will provide for the future generation of professionals.”

The mission of Digital NEST directly aligns with SCF’s leadership work of creating opportunities for educational excellence and economic opportunity. The Porges Family Foundation and Olson Family Fund, housed at Stanislaus Community Foundation, committed major gifts over the next three years to bring Digital NEST to Stanislaus County.

“We are proud to be a lead investor in the expansion of Digital NEST to Modesto,” said Marian Kaanon, CEO of the Stanislaus Community Foundation. “Digital Nest’s program will provide our youth the opportunity to learn valuable skills that shape a brighter future for them and our community.”
